This is the blog of Ben Howard. That’s me above. It is my thoughts, writings, opinions, and rantings on any subject that interests me. Those subjects are many and are guided by what makes me who I am.

So who am I? I am first and foremost a follower of Jesus Christ, and happily married husband of 10 years (as of 2006) to Beth.  We don’t have any children, but my wife, Beth, would tell you that we have 4 cat children and 1 dog child.

I am currently a Navy Chaplain, but previously served in the Marine Corps for 11 years, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant. I am endorsed by the Southern Baptist Convention and consider myself a strong supporter of the Southern Baptist doctrinal statement and way of doing missions and ministry. I consider myself a conservative evangelical in the world of Christianity and with the right definition would even consider myself a historic fundamentalist. I grew up in fundamentalism and did my Bachelor’s degree at Bob Jones University, but most traditional fundamentalists would probably say I do not fit the mold. I became a Southern Baptist soon after college and attended Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, an SBC seminary for my MDiv.

I don’t know what brought you here, but I welcome you to the read the weird and varied musings that my mind can make.

Hi! This is a nice blog. I’m a freshman in San Diego Christian College, and I’m considering becoming a Navy Chaplain. I need to do a project on this for my college and career planning class, so I was wondering if we could do an email exchange about life as a Navy Chaplain. If you’re not too busy, my email is pbishop@sdcc.edu.

God bless,
